Arrowhead Provincial Park

Our first trip

Well after many years of tent camping, including many interior, and portage trips we just got back from our first tent trailer camping trip. Maybe it's old age creeping in but having the tent trailer, or pup as it is known in the rv world was really fun. It gave us some basic luxuries while still giving us the feeling of sleeping in the great outdoors.

Our pup is a 2009 Starcraft 2106. It comes equipped with a small 3 way fridge, heater, water tank, sink and stove. As well it has a whole wack of electrical outlets for all those "necessities". We kept our screened dining tent from our old tenting days and all in all our camp was quite comfy.

The four of us, my wife, 5 year old, and our chocolate lab pup found our home away from home quite welcoming. We didn't have a warm week of weather at Arrowhead Provincial Park even though we are in the middle of July. In fact we had nights of cool 7 degree temps and several wet days as well as quite a rainy thunderstorm one night. But our pup kept us nice and dry. A far cry from memories of my tenting days.
Sitting at the little dining table playing Sorry ( a board game) was something Im sure my little girl will remember with delight.

Unless she remembers that she didn't win the game! ( she doesn't take losing too well)

And when she was fast asleep, the wife and I settling down to watch our favourite series 24 on the laptop till the late hours was just plain relaxing.

One of the things we found about the pup was how great we all slept. In fact my daughter who has always been a light sleeper and an early riser slept so well through the week and slept well into the mornings. This gave my wife and I the extra sleep time that we have lacked in our day to day lives. Even our dog Oakley would sleep well into the morning!
So our little pup is like a travelling cottage. It has all the little necessities we might need, and is easy to tow. Our next trip is in a couple of weeks and we can't wait. If you are thinking of moving up from tent camping but still want to feel like your camping, I definitely would recommend a pup. I'm looking forward to future camping trips and fond memories.
